Kickstart Scheme

We know a lot of you are aware of this so please excuse us if you are. The government is introducing the Kickstart scheme to encourage employers to take on 16 – 24 year olds who are out of work.

The scheme operates like this: an employer who takes on someone through this scheme, the government will pay the employee a minimum wage for up to 6 months for a minimum of 25 hours per week. The government will also give a grant of £1.5k to provide training, equipment etc to the employer. The government is thinking that if the employer finds a good employee, they will keep them on afterwards.

A requirement of the scheme is to provide 30 places, however, several gateways are listed where an employer can provide a place for 1 position, or more and that gateway organisation will manage the process for you.

More information an be found at www.gov.uk/government/collections/kickstart-scheme and if you require to find gateway you can find the list here www.gov.uk/guidance/help-employers-apply-for-a-kickstart-scheme-grant-kickstart-gateway.

We hope this helps, stay safe.
